Ornate Saturation is a swirl of a three-headed creature turning itself inside out, swerving, ornamenting, reveling, carving, destroying, and resurrecting itself.

The piece proceeds from the idea that sensory overload leads to numbness – through bombarding the senses with fragmentary impressions, modern technology “drugs” the organism. The result is a simultaneity of overstimulation and numbness.

The performance emerges from the murky interstices of this overload - not born of clarity, but of the cognitive and bodily sludge left in the wake of information saturation. Out of this disorienting fog, a terrain takes shape – one created in the wake of sensory exhaustion.

Ornate Saturation is a speculation on this terrain – a field of assembled bodies, blurred boundaries, a mass that emits formatted embroideries while hunted by its own unruly forces.

Performed by three dancers, Ornate Saturation is the second piece in the choreographic series STUPOR.
