Ronda Rousey was the first female champion in the history of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). Her career consisted of a series of very short matches – usually lasting less than a minute. In the fight against Cat Zingano, Rousey acquired a world record with the title “shortest fight in MMA history”. It lasted 14 seconds.

Rousey was famous for armbars and grappling, and Knockouts examines the techniques and sees these moves as languages in themselves. The show also takes a closer look at the methods used by some of Rousey's main opponents, such as Holly Holm's signature footwork and kicks.

In Knockouts, different ways of using force in performing arts and MMA are explored as a dialogue between the poetic and the functional in both expressions.

Ludvig Uhlbors is a playwright and director. He has previously visited Black Box teater with the performances The End of the World, Arne Næss Gjenoppstandelsen and Kampen katastrofefilm.

NB. The performance contains strobe lights.
