Extended program Conversation

Every season, Black Box teater invites the artist Maritea Dæhlin to curate and moderate breakfast conversations with invited guests. We serve a simple breakfast, coffee and tea, and invite the audience in to the conversation.

Maritea Dæhlin is an artist who works and lives in Norway and Mexico. Her work ranges from theatre, video, performance art, sound art and stage text. Her practice is characterized by the multilingual, non-linear and at times absurd. Dæhlin was previously an associate artist at Black Box teater (2021–2022).

For this edition Maritea Dæhlin has invited choreographer and dancer Ulf Nilseng for a conversation.

Ulf Nilseng has his education from the Norwegian National Ballet School, and has worked as a dancer in the independent performing arts field since. Through his work, Nilseng has done performances and residencies at home and abroad: Nepal, Cuba, Mexico, Norway, Germany, Sweden and France. He was associated with Kreutzerkompani and choreographer Eva Cecilie Richardsen for several years, and in 2002 he started the TOYBOYS foundation with Terje Tjøme Mossige where they worked with homosexual dance art and had the motto: we are here, we are queer, get used to it!

In 2015, Nilseng created the company ULF, where he and his artistic team created the trilogy ULF Goes Religious, and Turning Vinegar Into Wine. Nilseng has held positions as deputy leader of NODA (Norwegian dance artists), the Scholarship Committee and Stikk. He received the Dance Information Institute's Honorary Award in 2022 for his work with homosexual dance art. In addition, Nilseng has had several working grants and now holds the state's 10-year working grant for established artists.

Welcome!
