BANGER is an hour in the grip of the body and sound. A sensual and physical pop-poetic happy hour that will stretch time, hold on to the moment, and enjoy being together.
DON'T FORGET THE SONGS THAT MADE YOU SMILE… AND THE SONGS THAT SAVED YOUR LIFE
– “Rubber Ring”, the Smiths
A pop song can't change the world. Not even your life situation. Everything is the same. Yet everything is different. How little does it take for something to change?
Composer Ingvild Langgård and choreographer Magnus Myhr met for the first time while working on Myhr’s HEARTFELT (2020) and Langgård/Becker’s SKELETON WOMAN (2020). Now the two minor-voiced souls will try to tune, listen and dance themselves and the audience into a kind of common sound. BANGER is their first collaborative project. Magnus wants it to be similar to Bruce Springsteen’s Tougher Than the Rest, while Ingvild wants it to be more like Kate Bush’s Waking the Witch.
Ingvild Langgård is a composer, singer and sound artist. Langgård makes music for ensembles, contemporary dance, theatre, film and art installations. She has released two albums under the name Phaedra, and an album with the duo Runnershigh. Magnus Myhr from Klæbu is a trained dance artist and has extensive experience in the project-based field of dance, performance, musicals and theatre.
BANGER premieres at Black Box teater on January 25 and will also be shown at Regional Arena for Samtidsdans in Sandnes and Rosendal Teater in Trondheim.
