Pollinary Dances

The artist duo LATERNA will introduce us to the universe of plants and medicinal plants. One way to explore the world of plants is through the use of brews. These are made from wild growing herbs from places visited in connection with the art project CoSA – Concerning the Spiritual in Art (2018-2020). CoSA has visited historical sites such as Monte Verità, Steilneset and the Museum of St. Petersburg Avantgarde. In Russia a CoSA garden was created, and from spring 2021 of, it will also have a sister garden in Oslo on the facade of Black Box teater. We drink this brew together and later we are introduced to Pollinary Dances, a performative event based on choreographic scores. If we really listen, what can the plants tell us? How do they affect us and how do we affect them? How can plants and humans, animals and bees coexist and mutually support each other in an extended pollinary dance?

LATERNA consists of Inger-Reidun Olsen and Marianne Skjeldal, both choreographers, dance and performance artists. The performative works are grounded in an artistic ecology where everything is connected and the projects are given time to develop through regular practice and methodological studies aimed at tracing history, gathering collectives and creating new forms of community.
