It is one of the most stunning sights in the world, perhaps because it is so hard to grasp. It offers so many questions. How is it organized? Where is each star located and how old is the light that we see?
At first glance, the starry night sky looks like a coherent unit. If we can get close enough to scratch the surface, we can gain knowledge about each single star, what it is made of and how it works. But what if the sky suddenly changes? What if the predictable surface that we have come to trust is no longer stable? And if what appears under it is unbearable?
