This performance is part of “Beyond the Human”, a series of work and talks investigating the relation between human and non-human life forms, ecology and sustainability.

The performance is free to watch, but you need to book your place in advance. By signing up, you will receive an email in reply with the exact meeting place and practical information.

The tallest trees towering the urban landscape were planted over 120 years ago. They have seen the city change and grow, in parallel to their own roots.

During three weeks in September, LATERNA will invite us to join Tree Talks, a practice that is part of CoSA – Concerning the Spiritual in Art project. From 2018-2021 through all four seasons, the project will visit four old, prominent and venerable city trees in Oslo. Through meditation and other methods, we spend time and enter dialogue with each tree.

LATERNA has invited four other artists, one for each tree – this time in collaboration with Our Saviour’s Cemetery in Oslo, Terje Tjøme Mossige and Fernanda Branco. For each tree meeting by the old Copper Beech in the cemetery, one of the artists from LATERNA will meet three participants. There will be attendance at one of the entrances to the cemetery 5 minutes before Tree Talks starts. By signing up, you will receive an email in reply with the exact meeting place and practical info.

LATERNA is Inger-Reidun Olsen and Marianne Skjeldal, both of them choreographers, dance- and performance artists. Their performative works are founded in an artistic ecology where everything is placed in a context and is allowed to grow over time through regular practice and methodological research with the goal of tracing history, gathering collectives and creating new forms of community.

Tree Talks seeks out to find alternative entering points to choreography. Their practice strives to allow something to occur – rather than always focusing on producing, and to experience a different spending of time.
