Mårten Spångberg is a choreographer living and working in Stockholm.
He has been active on stage as a performer and creator since 1994 and has created his own choreographies since 1999. His pieces have toured internationally. His interests concern choreography in an expanded field, something that he has approached through experimental practices and creative processes in a multiplicity of formats and expressions. Spångberg has thorough experience in teaching both theory and practice and he acted as the director of the MA programme in choreography at the University of Dance and Circus in Stockholm from 2008 to 2012. His first book Spangbergianism was published in 2011. Recent large-scale work include Natten and La Substance, but in English. His newest work Digital Technology will be a part of Oslo Internasjonale Teaterfestival spring 2017. From August 1st Mårten Spångberg is hired as a professor of choreography and dramaturgy at Oslo National Academy of the Arts (Khio) in a 20% position to work on collaborative and joint training for master students in theater, choreography and dance.
