Put the world on hold for a while, and dive into the starry night sky in this work by choreographer Bente Alice Westgård.

The vast distance between us and the stars makes them look never-changing. It is one of the most stunning sights in the world. And it offers so many questions. How is it organized? Where is each star located and how old is the light that we see?

At first glance, the starry night sky looks like one coherent unit. If we can get close enough to scratch the surface, we can gain knowledge about each single star, what it is made of and how it works.

Westgård is the only performer in this active visual, tactile and musical space developed in a trio with Myrvold and Nystabakk.

In Eruptive Stars, Westgård seeks to uncover something beneath the seemingly constant surface. Could there be something hidden there, something unknown? And is it possible to surrender into something we barely can have a sense of?

Bente Alice Westgård is a Norwegian choreographer and dancer. The dynamic expression of her work is often rooted in the dance and the role of performer. In Eruptive Stars as a project, she has made a critical assessment of the strategy she leans on when she dances and the performance is a result of this investigation. She visited Black Box teater during spring 2019 with Dødsprosjektet.
